Simple Frozen Salmon Burger Meal
This simple salmon burger meal is perfect for a busy weeknight, made with FROZEN salmon burgers from Butcher Box! Flavorful, satisfying, and easy—they don’t even need to be thawed before cooking. I’ll show you how to cook salmon burgers on the stove straight from frozen, plus a simple side salad you can throw together while they cook.
I love to make homemade burger patties with ground beef, but making my own salmon burgers is a bit trickier. Rather than making them myself with fresh or canned salmon, Butcher Box’s frozen salmon burgers make dinner time super convenient! They’re wild-caught, they hold together like a true burger patty, and I don’t have to remember to thaw them out beforehand.
Most importantly, they’re delicious! Chewy, savory, and not “fishy” at all. This 15 minute salmon burger meal has become a go-to dinner for me now, complete with protein, nutritious fats, and loads of veggies. And, it’s a great way to fit more fatty fish into my diet when I want a break from just cooking and eating fish filets.
While I love a pan seared salmon filet, these salmon patties are just plain simpler! Plus, I can serve it up on a bun or lettuce wrap, just like I would a burger. I’ll walk you through how to cook salmon burgers on the stove, how I like to serve them, and I’ve shared my favorite side salad recipe below as well.
Frozen Salmon Burger Meal Ideas
The beauty of frozen salmon burgers is that they’re versatile and easy. Pretty much anything you can do with a regular burger you can do with a salmon burger. A great option for pescatarians, or just anyone looking for a break from beef!
Personally, I like to cook salmon burgers on the stove since it’s quick and convenient—you only need 4-5 minutes on each side. Or, you can just as easily grill your patties for this salmon burger meal or even cook them on a grill pan! Additionally, you’ve got the option to cook them in the oven, you may just need to cook them a bit longer than on the stove or grill.
Once your frozen salmon burgers are cooked to your liking, serve them however you please! Keep it classic by serving on a bun with your favorite toppings and condiments, maybe even paired with fries. Or, serve it in a lettuce wrap, on top of a bed of greens, with fried eggs—all solid options for a low carb or keto diet!
For the salmon burger meal that I’ve shared below, I went with a lettuce wrap for serving and a salad on the side. Of course, ketchup and mustard are the classic burger condiments, but I whipped up a zesty sriracha mayo instead! Along with some sliced avocado and sesame seeds, it’s the perfect blend of seafood-meets-burger.
Ingredients & Toppings
Salmon Burgers
drizzle of oil
2 Butcher Box frozen salmon burgers
Sriracha Mayo
¼ cup mayo of choice
1 Tbsp sriracha
squeeze of lime juice
Burger Toppings
sriracha mayo (see above)
1 avocado, sliced
sprinkle of sesame seeds
optional: serve on lettuce wrap, a bun, or anything you like
How to Cook Salmon Burgers on Stove
Butcher Box’s frozen salmon burgers are high-quality and they taste amazing, but the most convenient thing for me is that I can cook them straight from frozen! Here’s how I do it:
I start by heating a skillet (or you can use a grill pan) on the stove over medium-high heat and add a bit of oil. Once warm, I add the salmon patties and let them cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side. Cook to your desire doneness, but keep in mind that fish tends to cook quicker than beef!
While those cook, I whip up my sriracha mayo and a simple side salad (shared below). And that’s literally it—dinner is ready in less than 15 minutes! I load up the cooked patties on lettuce wraps with the sauce and toppings, put the salad on the side, and this easy salmon burger meal is complete.
