How to Make Bacon Cheddar Cream Cheese Dip
Making this chicken bacon cheddar dip is deliciously simple, though it requires a few steps to get all of the necessary ingredients prepared. But, once they’re ready, you can have the dip itself baked in just 30 minutes! If you plan to make this for a party or gathering, I recommend cooking your shredded chicken and bacon bits ahead of time.
Cook Bacon Bits & Shred Chicken
- Cook homemade bacon bits to your desired crispiness. Set aside, or store until the day you plan to prep the dip.
- Prepare shredded chicken. First, boil chicken breast or thighs, then shred using a hand mixer or with 2 forks. Set aside or store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Assemble Crack Chicken Dip with Cream Cheese & Sour Cream
- Combine all dip ingredients in a large bowl. Mix together sour cream, cream cheese, half of the cheddar, the shredded chicken, bacon bits, green onion, and seasonings. (Reserve the other half of the cheese + a few tablespoons of bacon bits.) Now is the time to add ranch seasoning if you want to make a bacon cheddar ranch dip!
- Transfer dip to a baking dish. Top with remaining cheddar cheese.
Bake and Serve Warm
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes, until hot and bubbly.
- Serve warm, topped with bacon bits and green onion. Enjoy with chips or your favorite dippers!
- Cover dish with plastic or with a lid and store in the fridge. Will last 5-7 days in the fridge.
- Reheat leftovers or enjoy cold!
