Cold Brew Concentrate

You can find all kinds of fancy, flavored iced coffee drinks at Starbucks or in the grocery store, but you’ll spend a pretty penny doing so. And of course, there’s also the sugar price tag to consider… But by keeping it homemade, you can whip up healthy iced coffee with just a few basic ingredients!

I’ll show you how to make iced coffee at home, starting with my favorite iced coffee base: homemade cold brew coffee concentrate. Then, I’ve got 4 flavored iced coffee drinks to share, including cinnamon, mint cacao, lemonade, and even peanut butter!?

Plus, you’ll find some fun homemade iced coffee bonuses along the way, like a DIY coconut sugar simple syrup and coffee ice cubes. Let the healthy iced coffee bonanza begin—with a superfood boost thanks to Four Sigmatic!

Flavored Iced Coffee Drinks

Healthy Iced Coffee Base

All homemade iced coffee drinks have to start with a tasty brew! The specific type of brew you use will depend on your preferences—in terms of brew strength, taste, and convenience.

For the very easiest, most convenient option, you can just use leftover cold coffee. If you have any leftover coffee in your pot at the end of the day, simply save it and store it in the fridge to use to make healthy iced coffee drinks on another day.

Or, for a stronger and tastier brew that’s made for iced coffee purposes, try making your own homemade cold brew or even cold brew coffee concentrate! If you’re unfamiliar with cold brew concentrate, it’s just a more highly concentrated brew compared to traditional cold brew, made with a higher coffee-to-water ratio. You can of course use store-bought, but they’re so easy to make at home.

A slow, cold brewing process retains more of the flavor and the caffeine from your coffee, and both of these options result in a stronger brew than standard hot brewed coffee. Both are incredibly easy to make with just coffee grounds and water—the main inconvenience is they take a while to brew, like 12-24 hours.

Basic Homemade Iced Coffee Recipe

With your healthy iced coffee base of choice—cold coffee, cold brew, or cold brew concentrate—you’re ready to start making iced coffee drinks at home! First and foremost, the simplest healthy iced coffee drink you can make is just straight-up cold coffee or cold brew, served over ice, with a splash of your favorite cream or milk if you’d like.

It doesn’t have to be fancy! But, for those looking for an added superfood boost and additional immune support, I recommend adding in a packet of Four Sigmatic’s Chaga Elixir. Chaga mushrooms have incredible, medicinal properties and are known for their immune supporting benefits, thanks to their content of beta-glucans, polyphenols, and antioxidants.

Plus, Four Sigmatic’s elixir also contains the adaptogen eleuthero, along with rosehips for a vitamin C boost! The packet itself is a simple powder, with a mild richness that pairs perfectly with your coffee. It’s easy to blend right in with your cold brew or coffee concentrate, but it’s totally optional.

Homemade Flavored Iced Coffee Recipes

For those with more adventurous taste buds who’d like to shake up their healthy iced coffee routine, I’ve got 4 delicious flavored iced coffee drinks to share! They’re all super simple to make, and they’ve all got room for a superfood boost, should you choose to add one.

Again, any base iced coffee brew you want to use will work just fine. If you’re using a homemade cold brew concentrate, be sure to dilute it with equal parts water before making any of these iced coffee recipes!

In terms of the milk or creamer, go with whatever suits you and your lifestyle. Dairy or nondairy, all will work in these easy recipes.

Same goes for the sweetener—use whichever sweetener you prefer or omit the sweetener altogether. However, in iced coffee drinks like these, I do recommend using a liquid sweetener instead of granulated because liquid will integrate best. If you’d like to give it a go, I’ve got a homemade coconut sugar simple syrup that’s incredibly simple to make!

Peanut Butter Iced Coffee

Let’s kick it off with the strangest (& tastiest) of these healthy iced coffee drinks: a PEANUT BUTTER iced coffee recipe! Say whaaat? Made with your favorite milk and a dash of simple syrup (or any sweetener), it’s a smooth, creamy, perfectly salty-sweet treat.

You can use a few tablespoons of powdered peanut butter in this recipe to infuse that tasty flavor, but I personally used Four Sigmatic’s Peanut Butter Protein Packet. It’s clean, totally plant-based, and rich in superfood mushrooms and adaptogens. Plus, it makes this more like an iced coffee protein shake with 18g of protein per drink!

Peanuts and peanut butter also both contain vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant that can boost immune cell activity. And honestly, that crave-able peanutty flavor is a match made in heaven with my rich cold brew. I don’t know why I haven’t thought of the pairing sooner!

Lemonade Iced Coffee

If there are any Arnold Palmer fans out there, you’ve got to give this lemonade iced coffee recipe a try! Instead of black tea, sip on a healthy iced coffee infused with bright citrus flavor, just enough sweetness, and a lovely, fizzy dash of sparkling water.

I don’t know why I’d never tried pairing lemon and coffee together before—it’s a go-to combo when it comes to black tea, and it’s perfect with coffee, too! The tart lemon is balanced nicely by the sweet simple syrup, giving that rich iced coffee so much delicious flavor. With that fizz on top, it tastes like sippable summer-in-a-cup!

For a superfood boost, this time I’m adding a scoop of Four Sigmatic’s Mushroom Blend. It contains the top ten functional mushrooms, known for their immune-boosting and health-supporting benefits. It’s organic, contains no additional caffeine, and it’s easy to blend into any of these iced coffee drinks that you’d like!
