Salsa is a simple and healthy dip option that can encourage kids to eat more veggies or try new foods. But, many salsas—even seemingly mild salsa recipes—can be too overwhelming for little ones’ taste buds. Instead, try this non spicy kid friendly salsa dip! All you really need are fresh tomatoes, salt, maybe some lime juice (if your child likes the taste), and I added in a bit of green bell pepper for a nutritional boost. Of course, you can jazz up the recipe with a bit of cilantro and red onion, but feel free to leave them out to keep this kid friendly salsa appealing to YOUR child’s taste.
Plus, whether it’s for kids or adults, this is such an EASY homemade salsa recipe! You can just toss your ingredients into the food processor and pulse until it’s as smooth or chunky as you like it. (TIP: Pulsing a bit more to integrate everything makes this kid friendly salsa dip easier to scoop, and it’s easier to hide those veggies!) Serve with chips and raw veggies as a dip, on tacos, or even with eggs!
1 Tbsp cilantro (optional)
3 Tbsp green bell pepper diced
1 lime, juiced
1 Tbsp red onion, minced (optional)
4-5 roma tomatoes roughly chopped
salt, to taste
Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir to integrate.
OR, for easier prep: pulse all ingredients in the food processor until desired consistency is reached. (If you prefer a chunky salsa, pulse less or just dice the ingredients as small as you like and mix!)
Serve with chips or your favorite dippers and enjoy!
