Ingredients

Mummy Brie

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (8.65oz) thawed 20-40 minutes
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (enough to flour surface)
  • 8 oz wheel of brie
  • 2 mini pepperonis (optional)
  • 2 black olive slices
  • ketchup or hot sauce (as glue)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp milk of choice

Instructions

  • Remove frozen puff pastry from package and thaw for 20-40 minutes at room temperature.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • On a floured surface, unroll thawed puff pastry sheet and cut crosswise into strips (~¾-inch thick).
  • Place brie wheel on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Add 2 mini pepperonis and black olive slices to create eyes on your mummy, using ketchup or hot sauce as glue.
  • Use puff pastry strips to wrap the brie wheel like a mummy—layering and criss-crossing the strips, then wrapping them all the way under the brie wheel. (I trimmed some excess from the ends of my puff pastry strips so they tucked neatly under my brie wheel.)
  • Separately, whisk together an egg and milk, then brush over puff pastry strips.
  • Bake 20 minutes, until brie is warmed through and the pastry is golden-brown. Serve with dippers!
