Healthy Indian Raita

Lots of people associate spicy curries with Indian cooking, but there are SO many types of curry and different sauces. And, not all Indian sauces are spicy. This Indian raita (a cucumber yogurt sauce) is actually cool and refreshing—helping to mellow the spiciness in a meal and cool the palette!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yogurt of choice
  • ½ cup grated cucumber
  • ½ stalk green onion chopped (or regular white onion)
  • 1 Tbsp cilantro chopped
  • tsp coriander
  • tsp cumin
  • salt to taste (~⅛ - ¼ tsp)
  • pinch of pepper

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix well to integrate.
  • Serve on top of savory soups and curries, or as a dip with raw veggies!
  • Yields ~1 cup Indian raita.
