You don’t need to go all the way to Starbucks – you can make the Salted Caramel Mocha at home! The salted caramel topping can be made sweeter or saltier to your liking, and you’re in control of the sweetener in this drink. Using non-dairy milk, this tasty treat is vegan!
Salted Caramel Topping
1/2 tsp Coarse sea salt
2 Tbsp Turbinado sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp Cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups Coffee or espresso
2 Tbsp Date syrup
1 12 cups Milk non-dairy for vegan
1/8 tsp Sea salt
2-4 Tbsp Sweetener of choice
For salted caramel topping: Lightly toast 2 Tbsp turbinado sugar with 1/2 tsp coarse sea salt in a skillet over medium-low heat.
Continue to stir until sugar begins to melt and caramelize together, then quickly remove from heat.
Transfer to a piece of parchment and break up the cooled pieces.
For beverage: Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, whisking well to combine.
Pour into cups. Top with whipped cream (coconut whipped cream for vegan), salted caramel topping, date syrup, and chocolate shavings.
Serving: 1 latte
