Plantain chips are a great healthy snack, and these are so easy to make! Rather than frying your plantains in tons of oil, you only need a few tablespoons of oil to make these tasty chips! The turmeric and chili powder add a crave-able savory flavor with a bit of a kick, but you can flavor your chips however you like. They’re delicious when freshly-cooked, but you can also store your plantain chips and pack them as a healthy on-the-go snack!
1 tsp chili powder
3 Tbsp coconut oil (instead of three cups!)
1/4 tsp salt (to taste)
1 tsp turmeric
4 unripe plantains sliced into thin rounds
Cut plantains into rounds. (Thinner = more crunch!)
In a mixing bowl, toss plantain rounds in spices.
In a pan, heat coconut oil over high heat. Turn heat to medium high and add plantain slices. Fry for about 5 minutes per side, until golden. Transfer to a paper towel.
Store in an airtight container for 4-5 days.
