BBQ Pulled Jackfruit Sliders

These sliders are so juicy, tender, and flavorful—you won’t believe they’re made of FRUIT! When the unripe flesh from a jackfruit is pulled apart, it resembles the texture of pulled meat. This recipe is cooked low and slow, so it’s bursting with sweet, tangy BBQ flavor! It’s delicious served on a bun with my creamy, crunchy avocado slaw, or on its own!


  • 1/2 cup broth
  • 2 cans of jackfruit (in brine or water, not syrup)
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 Tbsp garlic minced
  • 3/4 cup low-sugar barbecue sauce (vegan if necessary)
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • slider rolls
  • Procedure

  • Drain and rinse jackfruit.
  • Cut into smaller pieces (from core to edge) and pull apart with two forks to create pulled texture.
  • Add olive oil to a pan over medium heat and sauté onions and garlic. Cook 5 minutes, until tender and fragrant.
  • Add jackfruit, broth, and barbecue sauce. Stir and reduce heat to medium low for 20 to 45 minutes. (Cooking low and slow adds more flavor).
  • Remove lid and stir occasionally as it cooks.
  • Serve barbecue jackfruit and and avocado slaw on a bun for a delicious vegan slider!
  • Yields ~4 cups BBQ jackfruit.
